Educational Center was established in 1995 as an Educational Advising Center, which provides qualified consultations on education abroad. Since 2004 Educational Advising Center has been called Bilim - Central Asia” (EC “Bilim-CA”), the mission of which was set as promotion and support of reforms leading to integration of Central Asian states into the international educational space.
EC “Bilim-CA” is an associated member of the international network of education advising centers (Education USA), and its status was approved by the US Department of State.
EC “Bilim-CA” is an associated partner of the European Union’s “Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window" Project” educational program.
EC “Bilim-CA” has offices in Almaty (head office), Karaganda and Shymkent cities and partnerships with 50 universities. The representatives of the EC “Bilim-CA” make recruitment trips to the regions of Kazakhstan twice a year.
EC “Bilim-CA” provides the following services free of charge: • Consultations to visitors and public information sessions. • EC “Bilim-CA” administers more than 27 scholarships for citizens of Kazakhstan and 17 scholarships for citizens of Uzbekistan for getting and/or continuing education abroad in leading American and European Universities including the Columbian and Washington Universities (USA), the Central European University (Hungary), the American University in Bulgaria, Oxford, Cambridge, Essex (Great Britain), the Lyons and Strasbourg Universities (France), the Bremen and Magdeburg Universities (Germany), etc. • EC “Bilim-CA” delivers weekly lectures • EC “Bilim-CA” has a library with books and manuals of various publishers (including Peterson's, Barron's, Longman, College Board, etc) on education abroad. Library recourses are up-dated regularly and include the following materials: - catalogues of educational institutions in USA and other countries; - preparation materials for TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, SAT, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, GED and etc; - reference materials on education abroad issues; - various manuals for English language self-study; - fiction in English: graded reader with tapes and original; - Periodicals: Economist, Newsweek, Time, National Geographic, Foreign Affairs. • EC “Bilim-CA” also provides 2 computers with free Internet access (40 minutes per day). • EC “Bilim-CA” shows films in English for those who would like to develop their language skills. • English Club offers a unique opportunity to meet and talk to English speakers from around the globe in a friendly atmosphere. Club meetings are free.
